RANIA ARWANI
Managing Shareholder
Rania Arwani gained her B.B.A. in Finance at the University of Texas at Arlington. After relocating to Florida, Rania attended Barry University School of Law where her commitment to family law took root. Rania acted as a Research Assistant at Barry University School of Law and a Certified Legal Intern for the Children and Families Clinic. 

She has trained with the Florida Center for Child Welfare to handle a variety of family law matters, including domestic violence, substance abuse and sexual abuse of children. Prior to co-founding Arwani Nava Law Firm, Rania was a Certified Legal Intern with the State Attorney’s Office in the Ninth Judicial Circuit in Orange County where she gained valuable courtroom experience.

As the manager of the family law division at Arwani Nava Law Firm, Rania is dedicated to protecting the rights of parents and children.

LACY NAVA
 
Shareholder
Lacy Nava is a native Floridian who has always called Central Florida home. Lacy received her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Central Florida prior to attending Barry University School of Law. During law school, Lacy worked for a prominent personal injury firm for two years. 
 
Her engineering knowledge is invaluable in working with our own experts and cross-examining or deposing defense experts in cases involving motor vehicle accidents, premises defects, construction accidents as well as products liability cases. This unique perspective allows her to provide superior representation to those that have suffered injuries due to the fault of another.
 
She expanded her experience while in law school into the criminal arena, participating in criminal law trial competitions and acting as a Research Assistant on four articles, all relating to criminal law. Her dedication to the practice of law and the civil rights of Americans was put to good use when she was the President of the American Civil Liberties Union at Barry University School of Law for two years.

After graduation, Lacy worked for the Office of the Public Defender, Ninth Judicial Circuit in Orange County, where she gained essential criminal law experience in cases involving incompetency and individuals adjudicated insane. As a public service Lacy Nava is willing to co-counsel cases that involve incompetency/insanity. As co-founder of Arwani Nava Law, Lacy is dedicated to her overachiever’s mindset and goes into every case knowing that she will outwork her competition. The best description of her personality would be that she is analytical, determined and always in control. She prides herself on being down to earth and straightforward. Her confidence and sincerity always work to her client’s advantage in the courtroom and are instrumental tools in negotiations leading up to litigation. 
 
Lacy lives in downtown Orlando with her husband, Perry Nava, who is an immigration attorney concentrating in entertainment visas and waivers.

JUMANA (GIGI) ALKHATIB

Associate
Jumana (Gigi) Alkhatib is a thriving young attorney who specializes in Immigration Law and caters to all of Central Florida. She is a trilingual (English, Arabic & American Sign Language) attorney who recently joined Arwani Nava Law, PLLC, where she heads the immigration division.

She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from the University of Florida. Afterwards, she attained her Juris Doctorate from Florida A&M University College of Law. She was highly active throughout her law school experience, serving as a Student Ambassador and Treasurer of Phi Alpha Delta Fraternity as well as the Class Representative. She went on to graduate from American University Washington College of Law with a Masters of Law (LL.M) in Law and Government with a concentration in Civil and Constitutional Rights.  She wrote several papers on gender issues, particularly in the Middle East. With 10 years of legal experience in both the public and private sectors, she worked with various organizations including Southern Legal Counsel in Gainesville, FL, the Police Athletic League, and the American Bar Association in Washington, D.C. to name a few.
She has also litigated with the Ninth Circuit Public Defender’s Office in Domestic Violence and Felony Probation divisions; and worked for a top AV-rated private law in Orange County, Florida. Attorney Alkhatib was a solo practitioner for four years at the Law Office of Gigi Alkhatib, LLC, providing legal representation in the Central and North Florida areas, serving clientele particularly from the Arab and Muslim Community. Her firm worked on cases involving Immigration Law (Citizenship, Visas, Asylum), Family Law, and Criminal Defense. The firm successfully represented applicants in matters ranging from numerous Immigration petitions, divorce, child custody and a variety of criminal defense issues.

She has been teaching Criminal Justice at both the Associate and Bachelors level for almost four years at a private Orlando college.

In addition, she finds it important to give back to the community and serves as a Guardian Ad Litem and as the legal advisor for the Arab American Community Center of Florida Domestic Violence committee. In addition, she works with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office as an Executive Committee Member to ensure the local Sheriff’s office understands Middle Eastern culture when people from that culture are faced with the criminal justice system. 

Ms. Alkhatib enjoys traveling and spending time with her big Palestinian family.

John Notari has been a Personal Injury, Criminal Defense, and Appellate Attorney in Orlando, FL for 22 years. Before joining the firm as an of-counsel, Mr. Notari worked for the Florida Department of Insurance where he gained valuable experience and insight in dealing with insurance companies.
